Assignment

Your assignment is to write a five-paragraph essay in response to Todd Lewan’s article, “Chips: High Tech Aids or Tracking Tools?” (Ackley 416)

The structure of this argumentation paper relies on the following:

  • It addresses the prompt “How would you answer the question posed by the title? Why?” (see Personal Response section, p. 421, in your text)
  • The first paragraph includes a clear and concise thesis statement (position statement)
  • Evidence of your argument is presented and supported by at least two well-researched sources in three body paragraphs
  • A conclusion that successfully demonstrates your position is a valid one

Helpful hints to consider:

  • Refer to the argumentation strategies outlined in Chapter 5 of your text
  • Additional resources can be found in your “Little Seagull” handbook and The Empowered Writer  (on reserve
  • Follow MLA format (see syllabus and library guide)
  • Be sure to visit the Writing Center (required) to inquire about improvements/revisions to your writing
